Foreclosure Moratorium in the District of Columbia

The District of Columbia Council enacted the Foreclosure Moratorium Emergency Amendment Act of 2020 on May 29, 2020. The Act calls for a moratorium during the Public Health Emergency as a result of Covid-19 and for an additional 60 days after the Public Health Emergency ends. On May 27, 2020 the Mayor extended the Public Health Emergency until July 24, 2020. This will hopefully provide a short reprieve to vulnerable District of Columbia homeowners facing an already tough time during depression level unemployment. See the order here.
